On your wedding day no doubt you will be nervous. I know I was. You plan and plan and finally the day is here! Then before you know it the day has gone by so quickly that you look back and wonder what you missed. When you choose to have wedding videography you are preserving your vows, first dance and so many other special moments. You won't need to worry about what you missed. I know when we edit videos I love hearing the vows, that special toast and so many other details. When it's your own wedding video think how you will feel! Some of the toasts are just hysterical and others are so sentimental it makes you cry! What a missed opportunity it would be if you didn't have a wedding video to see, hear and relive those moments. For instance look at this little flower girl. After the ceremony on the video you can hear the groom telling the bridal party what a good job she did. If they didn't have a wedding video the bridal party and the bride would have missed this. Wasn't she the cutest thing ever! You couldn't have asked for a more perfect little flower girl. I'm not only happy this bride chose to have wedding videography but I'm so glad she chose us to capture these memories for her. She will remember them and I will too! Toni Nelson - Nelson Photographers/Videographers 941-662-0022 Tampa Wedding Videographer, Tampa Wedding Photographer It never ceases to amaze me how the various wedding traditions started. It’s funny that these traditions are still followed and yet no one really knows why. Let’s take for example the bride tossing her bouquet. Can you imagine getting married and people trying to tear pieces of your dress off because they want good luck.? In the 14thcentury that’s what happened. People thought that at least having a piece of the wedding dress would bring them good luck! People literally tearing at your dress? Those poor brides! Today many brides try on a number of dresses looking for that perfect one. I’m sure you couldn’t imagine having people trying to tear pieces of it off as you wore it on your wedding day. What bride would look forward to that? How could this be changed? To avoid this bride’s started tossing their bouquet as a good luck souvenir. That sounds much better doesn’t it? But what if you don’t want to toss your bouquet? Are there any other choices? Of course we always have choices so let’s check some of them out. If your concern is that you want to keep your actual bouquet and yet still do the toss you could have a second bouquet perhaps one that has just a few flowers like this bride. Another option is much like musical chairs only you pass the bouquet around and when the music stops the person holding the bouquet in effect has caught it. You could also break from the norm and instead of tossing the bouquet to the single women you could toss it to the guys instead! Talk about a cute idea what about presenting the bouquet to the person responsible for introducing the two of you? You could also consider offering the bouquet to your grandmother or some else who played a very special roll in your wedding. It’s not that unusual that as photographers and videographers we see couples breaking from tradition in one way or another. The question is what about you? Do you plan on tossing the bouquet? When I found this video of a 100 year old bride and her 87 year old groom I just had to share the link from AARP. The bride even has a white wedding gown! How cute is that! Surprisingly when you look at statistics the average age of brides today is 29 and the groom 30 according to TheKnot 2011 wedding survey. Toni Nelson - Nelson Photographers/Videographers 941-662-0022 Tampa Weddings Tampa wedding photographer, Naples wedding photographer, Sarasota Wedding Photographer Recently theknot released it's 2011 wedding survey. This survey was done with 18,000 brides and grooms participating. Since we are Tampa wedding photographers I would have loved to see some statistics for our area. Here is something I found interesting in the report - Purple reigns. Purples is the fastest growing wedding color. This photograph is from a Sarasota wedding where we were the photographers and videographers. As you can see the bride chose purple as one of her colors. Even the vests were purple! Purple weddings were extremely popular with 1 out of 4 brides (25%) choosing from this color palette. This is up from 2010 which was 21%. Other popular colors include pink (22%), blue (30%) and green (24%). What I found interesting is the report said brown weddings are on the way out since only 11% chose that color in 2011. I have to say this wedding below used pink and brown and it was beautiful. I have to admit pink is my favorite color! What will your wedding colors be? We'd love to hear from you! Boca Grande, Tampa, Sarasota, Naples I don't know about you but I love watching Ace of Cakes. Duff and his crew are amazing. It's no wonder that when looking for a wedding cake we'd love a creation like his. Since Duff and his staff are not here to Sarasota Fl. or Tampa Florida for your wedding what can you do if you want a unique cake? As a Sarasota wedding photographer we know how important choosing your wedding cake is. You want a wedding cake that reflects your personality. Here are some tips in choosing a wedding cake. There are 4 factors you need to take into consideration when looking for a wedding cake. 1) Know your budget. This is very important because if you go off in one area it creates a domino effect. A fabulous site to help with budgeting check out: cost of wedding. 2) How big a cake would you like? 3 tiers etc? 3) How many servings do you need. Be sure to include your vendors when figuring on the amount of people the cake will serve. 4) Know the average cost of wedding cakes for your area. This means calling around to different vendors, doing your research. 5) Be sure that the cake designer you hire is capable of making a cake that not only looks great but tastes great as well. Your cake decorator should be a professional and know not only how to execute your vision but be able to deliver the cake in one piece. They also need to know what kinds of cakes work well for the time of year you are having your wedding. Remember adding videography brings a whole new dimension to your wedding day! Toni Nelson - Nelson Photographers/Videographers Certified Wedding Planner 941-662-0022 Boca Grande weddings Sarasota wedding photographer, Boca Grande wedding photographer, Tampa wedding photographer How do you keep your sanity when planning your wedding? The phone rings all the time with friends and family wanting to know how the wedding planning is going. Just when you think you have a little time to yourself you are surrounded by everyone asking questions like “How’s it going?” “What are your wedding colors?” “How many bridesmaids are you having?” The list goes on and on. Understandably everyone is happy for you and wants to feel special and informed. How can you accomplish this and keep your sanity? One of the best decisions you could make would be to create your own wedding website. They’re quick and easy to set up. Plus, they’re a great way to keep all of your guests up to date on all things related to your wedding. Here's an interesting fact. 69% of brides use a personal wedding website! What does that tell you? They work! There are a couple of places you can look at a wedding website to create such as brides.com & weddingwire.com. They have many wedding templates to choose from and best of all they are FREE! Below are just a few options from weddingwire.com Five Tips For Having The Perfect Wedding Websites 1. Make sure it looks like you! One of the ways you do this is by choosing a website template that speaks to you and your personality. The goal is to have your website reflect your personality. 2. Follow Etiquette. Don’t list the website on your actual invitations. Instead, include it on another item enclosed in the packet such as the response card. Make sure you don’t overemphasize your gift registry. 3. Keep it simple. Don’t make your site so full of details and pages that no one can find the essentials that they’re looking for. So keep it to a few, well-designed pages. 4. Your wedding website is the perfect place to mention the proper wedding attire for you guests. You’d be surprised what people wear to a wedding when they don’t have direction. 5 Having a destination wedding? Why not list places your guests might want to visit. This will be really helpful to them and shows you care about the total experience they will have attending your wedding celebration.
